The Zero Corner Edge Finder is a major enhancement to your CNC machine and work strategy. It allows you to precisely locate and relocate the X=0 & Y=0 corner of your work piece. It is also useful for reliably finding the top surface Z=0. The Edge Finder uses a circular hole to find the X & Y edges by finding the center of a hole that is directly over the corner. The process is easy, fast, accurate, and repeatable. Locating the center of the hole eliminates the need to know the tool diameter or the thickness of the edge-finder to find both X=0 & Y=0 accurately. Magnetic connector is FASTER and SAFER than an alligator clip. The magnet instantly connects to the spindle nut (no size limitation), and should you accidentally power on the spindle with it connected, it will safely pop-off. An alligator clip can cause considerable damage to you, the finder cable, and your CNC. This port kit is compatible with most CNC controllers that support a probe input and software including MACH3 and GRBL.Sophisticated program modules for Mach3 allows measuring any surface of your work-piece. Sample programs for the GRBL systems are available to get you up and running smoothly. Specifications: - The Edge Finder is about 3" x 2" (75mm x 50mm). - The small hole is 3/8" (9.5mm) diameter centered over the corner (X=0, Y=0) and is perfect for an 1/8 in. bit or probe. - The large hole is 3/4" (19mm) in diameter located at X0.50 & Y0.50 inches (X12.7 & Y12.7 mm) from X=0 & Y=0, and is suitable for a 1/2" bit. Often times, when this happens, the work is not ruined, and if you could find again the original X=0, Y=0, & Z=0 you could save the work piece, a lot of time, and money. The Edge Finder allows you to relocate X=0, Y=0, & Z=0 to within 0.001 inch or 0.026mm. That is usually a win situation. If you try to set X=0, Y=0 and Z=0 by sight or touch to paper, you will not be able to repeat better than 1mm or 0.040 inch, which will ruin your work. It is incredibly hard to find the edges of a work piece that is non conductive like wood, plastic, or even anodized aluminum. The Edge Finder greatly simplifies that process while providing excellent precision and repeat ability. With the Edge Finder you can usually recover your X zero. Y zero, and Z zero to within 0.001 inch or 0.026mm (25X better than the sighting with the eye). Should you need to drill a large hole on the panel, here is what you should do.1) Decide where you want the hole. Mark its location center with a pencil or pen. A) It should, if possible, be in line with other connectors and spaced so as to look nice when you are done. B) There MUST be NOTHING behind hole location for at least 4 inches (100mm). which would prevent the jack from installing properly. C) You also don't want to drill a hole in anything but the chassis. D) Make sure that you DO NOT get any metal chips in the works. Some people recommend a wad of putty on the back side of the panel where the drill will come through. Others believe that a fat sponge will keep the chips at bay. DO NOT use your hand to catch the chips! The blood is much harder to clean up than the chips. E) If you can get one, get a step-drill-bit. It is specifically designed to drill large holes in sheet metal. If you use standard twist drill bits, the bit will want to pull through the panel and will require you to be very careful not to let the drill get away from you. 2) Drill a small hole first. Start with 3mm or 1/8th inch or smaller bit. The small drill size will make sure the finished hole will be where you want it. 3) Drill a slightly larger hole and repeat until you have the finished size 12.7mm (1/2 in) hole. 4) File or sand the edge of the hole to remove some rough surfaces and burrs. 5) Now you can install the jack and tighten the nut to prevent the jack from turning. 6) (Very important) Admire the beautiful job you did. ================================================= CNC machines are dangerous and unforgiving.
