Description: A stunning example of a World War One Cap Badge for The Connaught Rangers Raised as an Infantry Regiment in the British Army in 1881 and recruiting mainly from the West of Ireland, The Connaught Rangers served in The Sudan, Egypt, Palestine & The Boer War. In 1914 they were sent to The Western Front and in between 1914 & 15 fought at Ypres, Loos, The Somme & Passchendale where they were badly mauled. Back in Ireland and reformed they also fought in the Easter Uprising of 1916 and the Irish War of Independence some 6 years later in 1921, finally being disbanded altogether in 1922 when The Irish Free State was created A most attractive, crisp, badge with slider and a lovely antique bronze patina, this is a very good looking & iconic WW-I cap badge..
