Description: Rare and unusual 1920s or 30s Marquette University table lamp. ( I don’t know if this came out of a library or some other official school building.) The Marquette University logo is stenciled, on the metal shade. While the cast metal base depicts , a leather helmeted football player, a scholar, a businessman or lawyer and a field hockey player. The base is impressed with the Latin phrase “UT QUOCUMQUE PARATUS“, which loosely translates to, “Ready to go wherever.” It measures approximately 28” tall by 18” in diameter. It is overall in very good vintage condition, with the spun aluminum shade having some minor dents and minimal paint loss on top and bottom edges. It appears that the lamp has been rewired by a previous owner. The plastic globe has a few tiny cracks and possibly could be replaced with a glass globe, by a new owner. Very interesting and rare lamp from Marquette University, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
