The title of this CD says it all. Timeless Records has put together another winning compilation of popular music from the 1920s. As you might gather from the title, all of the selections on this disc were recorded in 1925-1927 and most made their first appearance on 10-inch 78 rpm records bearing Victor's famous "batwing" label design. Folks, this is the real stuff that "made the '20s roar!" The remastering of the original 78s is very well done, and the liner notes shed light on the bands behind the recordings. The disc features recordings by (Henry) Busse's Buzzards, Art Landry, Fred Hamm, George Olsen, Howard Lanin, Philip Spitalny, Ted Brownagle, and the Seattle Harmony Kings. My favorites on the disc are the Howard Lanin recording of "Melancholy Lou" (in truth directed by his brother Sam Lanin), and the previously unreleased recording of "Hurricane" by Jack Crawford and His Orchestra.
