Description: Ed. James Curtis Ballagh. Handsome, well-preserved copies that are ex-library. The two volumes cover letters from the years 1762-1794. The first volume was published in 1911, the second in 1914. Volumes are hardcover without dust jackets. Volumes are ex-library: each has a book plate and date-sheet on front pasted-down endpaper, stickers on ffep, embossed stamp and code written on publication pages, plate and corner-holder pasted to back pasted-down endpaper, marker dot and pencil on back pasted-down endpaper, library code written on top of spine in white ink. Volumes have moderate surface scratching on fabric, sunned spine fabric, numberous shallow dings on bottom and fore edges of boards, spots where library stickers were removed which are visible from difference in fabric color. Both volumes text blocks are roughly cut. Both volumes hinges are sound - a bit tighter on volume II than volume I. Bindings sound for both volumes. Both volumes pages toned around edges. Edges of text blocks have some spots of discoloration and scratching in spots. Otherwise, text is in excellent condition - clean and clear other than some very minor, scant dot blemishes or smudges in spots.
