The treasure was locked away in a box aboard the Viking ship making the voyage. However, the Viking ship never made it to Norway. In fact, the ship and its crew seemed to vanish off the face of the earth. Rumors spread about the fate of the ship and its crew. Many thought that the ship ran into rough seas and sank. But by far the most popular theory was that the great beast of the sea dragged the ship to the bottom of the sea. That beast is known as the kraken...
