S. multicostatus is single stemmed plant, with several densely packed, sharp, wavy ribs and 3-5 radials, white to brownish, not annulate central spines of which the middle one is flat. It has flowers nearly purple or with a darker mid-vein and the apex of the plant umbilicate. Original place of occurrence in the State of Coahuila (Los Imagines), Mexico. Plan ships bare root.
