Resolved by the Assembly, with the consent of the Senate, To direct a geological and historical survey to conduct a preliminary soil survey of the lands included in the proposed boundaries of the forest reserve in Iron, Oneida, Price, Forest and Vilas Counties, and such survey should be completed no later than January 1, 1915. The main purpose of this report is to describe and classify the soils of this region in such a way as to make the report most useful in distinguishing between those lands that are of such great value for agricultural purposes that it is unreasonable for the state to use them as a forest fund and those that are are of such low value for agricultural purposes that their use as a forest fund would be reasonable.
