RUSSELL ERWIN #738 FRENCH MORTISE LOCK w/KEY, 1 1/2" BS, 5" FACE (20275)Vintage, hard to find Russell & Erwin win #738 French Door or passage mortise lock with key. Remanufactured, mortise is in wonderful condition. Specs on the 738 are outlined below: FACEPLATE: Mortise lock has a brass face with a length of 5" and a width of 13/16" and thickness of 1/8". MORTISE BOX: The mortise box itself is 2" deep from the front edge of the brass faceplate and the box 3 1/2" high. Box is 9/16" thick. The lock is reversible.BACKSET: The backset (the distance from the front edge of the face plate to the center of the knob post hole) is 1 1/2".DROP: The drop (the distance from the the center of the knob post hole to the center of the top of the round portion at the top of the key slot is 2 1/4". KNOB POST: The lock accommodates a standard 5/16" knob post. KEY: The lock comes with a newly filed brass key. If you are replacing an existing lock, you may not need a strikeplate. But if you do need one, please let us know ahead of time and we will match up a brass strikeplate for it and then amend the write up and the price ($12) to include the new brass strikeplate.
