Balls straight out of the box are slippery and hard to throw. Ill strip the waxy coating off and remove the reddish tint. Then apply a conditioner to soften and darken the leather. The conditioning is followed by a mudding process which further darkens the ball and gives it better grip and a natural tackiness. I use the same process that NFL teams use. The process takes approximately 5-6 days to complete. Color/ball darkness could vary slightly from ball to ball it depends on the leather. Dont have a ball yet?
