Pro Axle Bender The Pro Axle Bender is a fully adjustable precision tool designed to bend all Pinewood Derby, Awana, Pine Car and other axles designed for Pinewood Derby type car races. Bending the axles allow adjustments for car alignment and tuning. Its unique bending cup design prevents distortion in grooved axles and eliminates any additional grooving at the bend point. Bend angles can be adjusted from 0.5° to 10°. To use the Pro Axle Bender, you will need: 3/32" hex key Pointed Sharpie marker Ruler or other measuring tool Prepped axles (all burrs removed and polished) Light oil (optional) Instructions 1. Place a mark on the axle head with the Sharpie. This mark will point to the direction of the bend and can be used as a reference when you install the axle in the car. 2. Mark a dot on the axle shaft 3/8"in from the axle head in line with the mark that you made on the head. This will be the location of the bend. The axle should be inserted into the car block up to this mark. 3. Add a very small amount of light oil to the groove in the tool where the axle will be placed (Our NyOil II works great for this). This is an optional step but will result in a smoother bend. 4. Loosen the silver knurled thumb screw at the end of the tool. Lift the small block under the screw. Insert the axle through from the inside with the dot on the axle shaft facing up. Place the axle head in the cup machined in the lever. Move the axle until the dot on the shaft is at the edge of the inside edge of the small block. Firmly tighten the knurled knob to hold the axle. 5. Adjust the amount of bend by loosening the set screw under the black knob and slide it to the mark for the desired amount of bend and tighten. 6.
