P.I.D - HERE WE ARE - PID - RARE 1988 HIP HOP RAP STILL SEALED LP ! ! ! !

Description: This listing is for an ultra rare factory sealed (see condition notes) copy of the P.I.D - "Here We Are" LP. Here We Are - PID - 1988 This was one of the first Christian rap records released, I think. These guys just showed up at the studio one day when I happened not to be very busy, and I broke a couple of my basic rules. First, I almost never let people into the studio unless I know them, particularly in the part of town where this studio was located. Second, I never listen to a demo with the person still in the room. I find it too hard to smile and say something pleasant when the demo is terrible. But, when these guys called in for me to buzz them into the building, I did it. When they played me this really bad demo, I heard something great in there, and I told them so. I didn't like rap then, and I like it even less now, but I felt God tell me to do this project, regardless of my misgivings, and regardless of the money. These guys were a lot of fun to work with, but because I didn't really understand what they wanted to do at first, we butted heads a lot. They had everything sequenced into a really cheap drum box, so I got a bunch of midi cables and drum machines, linked them all together, and used all of them, combining or selecting sounds to get different textures for each song. They did their vocals, we mixed everything, and off they went to the Cornerstone Festival in Chicago, where they won the new talent competition, and were offered a record deal by Graceland Records. We went back into the studio to add a few musical elements to the drum beats and DJ tracks we had already done, did a new mix, and StarSong Records picked it up. These guys pioneered a whole new thing, using rap and hip hop to express their love for Jesus. I don't think you can even get a copy of this record anymore, but I put it in my discography because I'm proud to have been a part of it, even though my main contribution was being in the right place at the right time, and saying yes. Record # SSR8121 There's a gap in the shrink wrap along most of the bottom and some minor wear on the bottom right corner of the cover from handling, but this very rare LP remains factory sealed!
