Description: Here's a crystal of optical calcite. This stone is strongly bifringent and splits images behind it into two. It's pretty clear and is a nice specimen. These crystals are fragile and can shatter easily, so I'm going to place it in a sturdy box with plenty of insulation to protect it during its journey. I will also wrap the outside with saran-wrap to protect it from scratches.
