Description: The other day one of my lost time model friends sent me some pictures of some older US Civil Defense trucks and wanted to know if the boys in the Lastdue shops could make some N scale models of them. If you're not familiar with Civil Defense, this was set up to deal with the aftermath of an attack or disaster in the United States. The term has fallen into disuse having being replace in form and function by Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Civil Defense was a big deal in the Cold War years with units all over the country usually manned and quarter at local fire departments and rescue squads. The units were generally painted white with blue trim. A lot of surplus military vehicles found their way in Civil Defense. Anyway this is what the boys came up with for a light truck. The truck is a military Dodge 3/4 ton weapons carrier equipped with a generator and spot lights. It also has a beacon ray and siren. It will look great at a fire scene, parade, fire station or flat car load. The examples pictured are painted in the classic CD scheme and another in white over red fire department markings The boys in the Lastdue Shops have taken a giant leap and have started 3 D printing N scale vehicles. These are 3 D prints that come unpainted (plastic colors may vary) and may require some flash removal before painting. Comments and questions always welcome.
