Description: Ivan Nolan Ivan Nolan BiographyIvan Nolan was born in Walgett, NSW in the 1950’s. He grew up on rural properties and cattle stations until he moved to Dubbo with his family. His mother was from the Kamilaroi tribe and his father was a Wiradjuri man. As a young man, Ivan took up an interest in painting and his uncle Don Nolan who was an elder in the Wiradjuri tribe taught him how to craft boomerangs and hunting clubs from native Australian timbers mainly Mulga wood. Taking these traditional techniques, Ivan decided to include his wonderful painting style onto these traditional crafts. Today, Ivan is a prolific maker of returning, hunting and club boomerangs and stunningly painted emu eggs. He has also taken up painting on canvas where he depicts animals that were either a part of the dreamtime or hunting stories. These animals and the landscape of Western NSW are important inspiration for Ivan and the work he produces. Items will be shipped boxed & insured.
