Description: This is a Japanese Meiji era (or possibly Taisho) cup with saucer featuring finely painted birdsEach is signed on the base "made by Sato". Iron red trim with gold accents The cup is about 3-3/4 inches in diameter across the top (not including handle) and about 2 inches tall. The saucer is about 5-1/4 inches in diameterExcellent condition--no chips or cracks nor signs of wear that I can see.The birds on the cup and saucer do not match, but I originally had a set of 8 and these two seemed to have been together since the others matched (or closely matched)Reverse side only of saucer has brown "stain" where the glaze/paint leaked over the edge.
