Photos show the details of the hat, as well as the relevant moments where it appears in the movie. - The base is a custom embroidered trucker hat- it is covered in hand-sewn fabric to make the beaver fur. - The tail is handmade of quilted fabric. - The nose is a plastic prosthetic animal nose (I think it was a dog) - The ears are bunched and hand sewn suede-like fabric- And the best part - the beaver teeth are made from foam makeup sponges One thing to keep in mind about props. Parts are tacked on, hot-glued, and generally made to hold up for one day of shooting: get the shot, and move on. So the beautiful ornamentation on this hat isn't likely to hold up to wear and tear. It's made to be displayed and protected, not worn as you flip off of a bridge into a river :) Why do I have this? I've worked in the film and television industry for decades, and from time to time, I get access to production dissolution assets. That's a pretentious way to say - when a production is over, they often have to liquidate all of the props, furniture and wardrobe because it's too much trouble to store it all. So after the actors and producers take what they want, sometimes there's some really great stuff left over!
