National Calendar or Herrick's Almanac. Published 1868 & 1870, Albany New York by Van Benthuysen. 2 issues, each 32 pages. Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout with woodcuts, both including a female Indian. Nice vignette woodcut scenery, each month of the year depicted by outdoor activities for that season. Comic group of caricatures above a sailor leaning on an anchor on the rear cover of one. Publisher's illustrated paper wrappers, original binding string still in original punctured hole at top left, so the almanac could be hung for ready daily reference. Pair is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time, although these are rather exceptionally clean, almost close to "file copies". Text block paper is gently toned, but clean and fresh, internally still tight and sound as issued. Booklets displays a pleasing and unique age patina and are in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
