Description: This sale is for a special AC power cord (with common IEC connector) that has been modified with choke (magnetic core) that has several wrappings of the AC cord around it. The modification to this cord was nicely done as the magnetic core has heat shrink around it giving it more of a finished and professional appearance. The IEC connector is common and used on many Drake, JRC, Kenwood, and Yaesu receivers. The purpose of the choke is that it inhibits higher frequency AC currents (noisy currents) from following the AC line into your receiver. When listening to a sensitive communications receiver, the very weak radio signals (in microvolts) from the distant transmitter are amplified in the receiver to produce room filled audio that the human ear can hear. However, when that receiver is plugged into an AC outlet, often dirty AC power commutes into the receiver causing some RF noise that can introduce signals that will also be amplified by the receiver and this can mask weak radio signals. This AC cord was modified by a hobbyist to minimize such AC noise. Will this make a difference for you? Well, that all depends. For some people, they will notice little to no difference over a traditional AC cord as they have clean AC power in their home. For others, they may notice difference particularly on weaker signals that could be masked by the higher noise floor caused by the AC power.
