Description: [zipedit] Germany Event Publicity Poster Stamp Publicity poster stamp issued for a "General Exhibition for the Kitchen, Cellar & House", held in Munich, November 11 to 20, 1899. According to Zeitschrift für das gesammte brauwesen. Neue Folge, Volume 22: Commercial exhibition. In Munich, a »General Exhibition for Kitchen, Cellar and House, Brewery and Economic Affairs« will be held again this year. The company is more sophisticated than Gally's, and hosted by Alex Wenzel last year. The Honorary Comité lists the names of highly respected personalities. The executive committee is composed of owners of the most respectable companies. A brewery is not among them. Director of the company is Mr. W. Haehnel, whose name can not be found in the Munich address book. The program is essentially no different from the known programs of such commercial exhibitions. Every businessman who signs up has to pay a high space rent, whether or not he exhibits it. Distributed prizes of honor, diplomas of honor with the right to the leadership of the golden medal, etc. The medals for the various diplomas can be obtained from the management. The members of the jury are not yet appointed. Whoever is so fortunate to take part in it, for a week, can enjoy gratuitous enjoyment of excellent bread, good meat and savory sausages, sweet pies and other pastry, delicious beer and wine; it will not be missing on wonderfully smelling cigars. - The exhibitors may consider the value of the diplomas to be expected and the medals they have bought for expensive money. Dr. Holzner. Although not specifically mentioned on the stamp, this exhibition also encompassed beer and breweries. That fact is also borne out by the depiction of the Münchnerkindl holding a beer stein while sitting astride a beer barrel. This stamp, printed on thin, hard paper, is known in at least 13 different colors, including metallic, and the design is based on a photograph. This issue is listed in Gardiner & Greiczek on page 114 (10 colors listed); also listed in Michel Bonneau's "Les Vignettes L'ENFANT de MUNICH" as #6.1 - #6.13 (13 colors listed). This stamp appears to be green with gold highlights in color (Bonneau #6.11), and it is F, OG, H. Approximate Image Size: 38 x 53 mm. Shipping to US addresses will be via USPS First Class Mail. Shipping to non-US addresses will be via USPS First Class Mail International. No tracking will be provided for shipments unless requested by buyer. If extra mailing services (registered, etc) are desired, there is an extra charge. Buyer MUST request before making payment to ensure additional coverage. If no additional coverage is purchased eBay will not cover this under their Buyer Protection program. After 35+ years I decided to retire from being an active Cinderella Stamp dealer. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such). Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs. A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described. A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words: "STOCK IMAGE" at the end of the description.
