Description: GEORGE BURCKHARTE was a farmer in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY. He was a neighbor of Thomas Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln’s father, from 1808 to 1811. Burckharte, Greenberry Dorsey and John Dodson signed a promissory note under a court order to pay Benjamin Helm, Guardian, the sum of $550 in damages. Dorsey was a relative of Azel Dorsey, Abraham Lincoln’s school teacher in Indiana. On another occasion, Burckharte signed a bond in June 1809 with Azel Dorsey.
