Description: A truly charming still life painting on a hinged wooden box, an original signed by the artist. I'm not quite sure about the artist's name. At first, I thought it read Laura Grier, but the first letter in the first name looks more like a B to me. It might actually be a listed artist. I have misread names before and found out later that was the case. Maybe you will tell me if you know who the artist is. I am located very close to Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, and often find really charming folk art made by Mennonites. I suspect this is a case of that. It's charmingly vintage and in great condition as you can see. A little scuffing on the bottom of the box, as expected, but otherwise pretty stellar on all display surfaces. It's a great treen piece to add to your decor of Americana or folk art. It's pure Pennsylvania. I own pottery jugs like the one in the painting. They are also an artisanal product of this area. Items like this become increasingly rare as the cultures mix and traditions die out. Great collectible and investment potential here, but more important than that is the beauty and craftsmanship of the object and its art. The old ways will inevitably die out and this will be a museum piece. But what a museum piece!
