Description: Very nice heavy beer stein from the 13th Annual Banquet of the Dutchess County Society (New York) at the Hotel Astor in New York City on January 9, 1909. Marked "Higgins & Seiter New York" on the bottom and the number "16." This group appears to have been a fraternal organization. Its logo is a sheaf of wheat with a sickle (Dutchess County was an agricultural county) topped with a crown and flanked by two lions. A banner has the name "The Dutchess County Socy." Has a great saying: "Old Friends are the best Friends and You can't get old Friends in a Day." Size is 5" tall and 3" in diameter at the top. VF-Ex condition, not chipped, cracked or broken; no crazing; some minor surface wear especially on the trim at the bottom, but very bright and clean. Scarce. We've seen other pieces from this group's annual banquets in NYC but have not seen a beer stein before.
