The color is Vaseline and was made ca. 1930's Any unusual white or dark spots shown in the photos are from camera glare. There is a seam at the top center of the handle. This was created by the mould and is not a crack. This very pretty basket is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks and no stains or mineral deposit.
