Cold Hardy North America Banana Tree [Beautiful,Fruiting,Permaculture,Organic]

Description: Check out my other garden delights! Apiarists, homesteaders, and gardeners will definitely find something of interest! Taxonomic Information:Genus: Musa Species: Unknown Description: Those are my pictures. Those are my trees. This is a cold hardy banana tree. (Botanically, they are plants, not trees.) Here in North America, the plants grow spring through fall. They die back in the winter. In zones colder than zone 7, it would be wise to put mulch over the plants in the winter. The more sun and water they receive, the larger they will grow. They do fine in full sun to dappled shade. The bananas make beautiful plants. See those pictures! Those are my pictures! The leaves are really spectacular! The plants are good for many purposes in the kitchen as well. I use the leaves for garnish & for "natural" dishes. The inner "core" of the stem (pseudostem, technically) is a tasty starch-like food (it tastes like corn to me). The foliage also makes great animal feed (chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, and bovine). Textiles, yarn, and paper can be made from the plant. This is a great plant to add a real tropical feel to your garden! What you will receive: 1 banana corm/bulb/tuber (root mass). It will be a sprouted, mature bulb and shoot (truncated). As it is spring now, they are really starting to grow! When their environment warms up, they will grow even more roots & shoots! People who purchase multiple bananas are likely to receive a bonus order! Planting Instructions: For planting outside, prepare the soil as if you were planting a tree from a 3-gallon pot (i.e. dig at least 16 inches across by 16 inches down). Place the corm 4-8 inches under the soil. Water frequently. The plants are quite hardy, and I have seen them grow on top of soil in truly harsh, dry conditions. My instructions will give them the best head-start possible. The colder your climate, the deeper I would plant them. Detailed instructions with pictures included with the purchase.
