Description: Coca-Cola two newspaper ads, 1944 & 1945 This is a pair of uncommon newspaper ads for Coca-Cola. They have been trimmed to only the Coke ads, and are in black-&-white. They were placed by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Altoona, Pa., and are printed on woodpulp paper. They show some typical tanning to the paper, which are 77 & 78 years old. Both ads measure slightly over 5 x 6 inches in size. Both were published during World War II, and have that as a theme. The 1944 ad shows a family welcoming home a furloughed GI: So glad youre back . . . Have a Coca-Cola . . . offering a soldier the comforts of home HOME! No place like it. And nobody knows it better than a fighting man back on furlough. Coca-Cola is one of the comforts of home that belongs in your family refrigerator. At the words Have a Coke, refreshment joins the party. . . . The 1945 ad shows a cafe where a couple U.S. servicewomen are sitting at a table with bottles of Coke, with a Coke cooler and some sailors in the background, with its text beginning: Youre my kind . . . Have a Coca-Cola . . . allies enjoy a friendly pause Friendliness enters the picture at the words Have a Coke. Its a happy custom, everywhere, for people to meet together over frosty bottles of ice-cold Coca-Cola.
