Offered for sale is a copy of Christopher Tolkien's translation of The Saga of King Heidrek the Wise--in its first edition, the first printing, of 1960. This copy is in very, very good condition. But for some sunning to the boards, toning to the endpapers, and slight wrinkling to the half-title and title pages, it would be graded "near fine." The corners are sharp, the binding is very sturdy, and the blue top-stain is vibrant. The leaves are entirely free of annotations, underscores, &c. Copies from the first edition of Tolkien's translation are true rarities--there seem (as of this writing) to be no other exemplars listed for sale in N. America. I suspect that this copy is the nicest that's available the world over. N.B., I am also selling a copy of The Lord of the Rings in its first edition, complete in three volumes, later printings all.
