Further, the surround often determines the response of a speaker to peak signals. Serious speaker designers put much effort and science into the specifics of each particular surround. The type of material, treatment, thickness profile, curvature, angle of attachment and the exact method of attachment all come into play. There are as many variations of surrounds as there are speaker brands and generally they are not interchangeable. That's why at Audiodogs you will only sell parts that meet the specifications for your speaker and not something that merely fits. This sale is for 2 Boston Acoustic foam surrounds. These American made foams are the correct density, weight and design profile so that your Boston Acoustic 6.5" speaker will function as the manufacturer intended. Not all speaker foams are equal and getting the size right is only half the battle. Boston Acoustic speaker foam surrounds are full filleted straight angle attach with no defined inner lip. If your replacement surround does not have the role that gently slopes to the inside edge (see photo detail) then you simply don't have a Boston Acoustic surround. NOTE: Boston Acoustics Series II speakers utilize a different sized frame than the Series I. The issue results in the A40 surround being slightly larger on the outside edge. The remedy is to trim the edge by 1/16" to 1/8" so it will fit. There is only one manufacturer that produces the filleted surround used on Boston Acoustic speakers and there simply is not enough of the odd sized A40 Series II speakers to warrant the production of this one speaker surround.
