Description: Vintage Blue Ridge Southern Pottery Candy Dish. Hand made in Erwin Tennessee in the 1950s. Retired 'Rose Marie' floral pattern. Lovely, hand-painted pink and yellow flowers, green foliage and cornflower blue accents. Base stamped: "Blue Ridge China, Hand Painted, Underglaze, Southern Potteries, Inc. Made in U.S.A." Some crazing is present on the lid. Manufacturing pepper marks and pinholes are present on the base. No chips. Please see photos. Excellent, Used Vintage Condition. Fun Fact:Blue Ridge Southern Pottery was well known in their day for their underglaze decoration and colorful patterns. "The underglaze technique made the decorations more durable, and while basic patterns were reused consistently, the fact that each piece was hand-painted means that no two pieces are exactly alike." - Wikipedia reference (Betty Newbound, "Southern Potteries," Encyclopedia of Appalachia (Knoxville, Tenn.: University of Tennessee Press, 2006), p. 830.)
