Description: RARE WWI Battlefield Souvenir Battlefield Pickup, Dated 1918 & Named Brass Bugle, probably Cavalry !! DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....Nice antique brass military short WWI bugle. Shows use and the violence of battle. Almost looks like it was hit directly by a shell or received the full force of a shell explosion. Mouthpiece and part of front tubing are missing as shown, appearing to have been ripped off, plus dramatic dents, twists, etc. Appears hit by a direct shell explosion hit. Has great deep dark patina / color, indicating a lot of time laying out in the elements and on the field before being picked up by a returning veteran.Stamped on the bell is manufacturing information: "J.W. York & Sons, Grand Rapids, Mich., USA, Chicago Dept., SPEC-1152, 2-27-18". Short size would indicate cavalry use. Bell construction seam nicely visilble. This would make a great gift and a nice, special display item for the discerning collector. A NICE DATED WWI BUGLE FROM AN ACTUAL BATTLEFIELD. THINK OF ITS HISTORY AND THE STORIES IT COULD TELL!! Measures about 8" long overall, 5" high, and 3 1/2" bell diameter. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS!!!
