ANTIQUE Vintage ACADIAN Lousiana CLOTH Fabric BLACK Cloth DOLL 1930s

Description: This is an antique or vintage folk art Handmade cloth doll from the 1930s made by Acadian Handicraft in Lousiana. The doll is a very neat folk art girl made of black cloth for the head with button eyes and an embroidered nostrils and mouth. The doll is holding a tiny broom made of a wood dowel for the handle and thread or string for the broom itself. She is wearing what looks to be an older very pretty red printed feedsack material house dress with a light weight see through apron that has yellowed over the years. She also has on a scarf over her hair made of Red White fabric. The doll has a central clothespin for her body and is stuffed with a lot of cotton underneath to fill out her rather thick middle. The stand works well for the display of the doll as the clothespin in the center will not keep the doll upright. The photo shows a miniature or very small new doll stand that does not come with her. It is for display only. These type of stands can be found in Michaels or any other craft store. This appears to be one of a kind doll as I have not seen any that are close to the form and design of this one. She is a real survivor!!!! She has the original tag which is printed " Acadian Handicraft Lousiana"- the tag is worn and yellowed- this is just how we found her and left everything intact. The reverse side of the tag has her original price of $8 written from the 1930s. -we left completely as found. She measures approx 5.5" - 5.75" Tall form top of head to base of central clothespin. A very nice black doll that has withstood many years of play and aging. You won't find another!
