Especially valuable item, painted by a very famous artist. Balakin Igor Kuzmich (1919 - 1968) Igor Balakin is a Mstera Miniaturist born in Barnaul in 1919. He attended the Mstera Vocational Art School from 1936 to 1940 where he studied under N. Klykov and A. Kotyagin. Balkin became a member of the "Proletarian Art" Artel in 1940. He participated in art exhibits since his graduations in 1940. Balkin taught at the Mstera Vocational Art School from 1947 to 1948. He also illustrated children's books for the Vladimir Publishing House. Balakin's most famous work is entitled "Taras Bulba" (1952), and is depicted in several books on lacqer miniature. Other works include "The Song of Tachanka" (1952), "Ilya Muromets and Solovey the Robber" (1956), and "Ruslan and the Hermit" (1957). Source: sunbirds
