Description: This antique 19th Century glass jar with the R J Reynolds Factory No 256 District of NC base markings. This was a standard tobacco shop sales counter clear glass canister. They would have been used to hold cigarette tobacco this when people rolled their own, I believe it was made before cigarettes were sold in packages already rolled up.It was also used for the storage of pipe tobacco as well. It is a must-have for collectors of real antique or vintage tobacco memorabilia. Made in the United States, this vintage piece is a rare find especially in this condition that will surely impress any humidor enthusiast. The jar base is in excellent used condition showing normal wear from use and lots of cool early factory glass defects like air bubbles and waves in the glass in certain areas due to different thickness in the glass itself. The lid has one underside chip as seen blown up really large in the last photo, other than that is has factory blemishes as seen in the photos. It has not been modified, making it a great addition to any collection. Its unique design is perfect for display and will surely be a conversation starter. This item is perfect for those who love antique tobacco items and want to add a rare piece to their collection. It measures just about 7" tall with the lid on and 5" wide across. Please look over the many photos and read the conditions description for more details.
