Description: An Abridgment Of Lectures On Rhetoric By Hugh Blair Up for auction is "An Abridgment of Lectures on Rhetoric", by Hugh Blair. This 237 page hard-cover book measures approximately 3.5 by 5.75 inches in size. I believe that the covers are leather over boards, with a red leather title plate on the spine, with gold gilt lettering, plus gold gilt bands on the spine. There are blank endpapers. The book was published by P. N. Green and Thomas Carey, of Haverhill, and Henry Whipple, of Salem (Massachusetts, I believe), in 1817. While the first edition was published in 1800, this is an early printing, revised and corrected, and dated 1817. The hard cover book is in good vintage condition, with no missing pages, and minimal soiling and wear, given its age. However, internally, all of the pages are toned and foxed, the last two pages have chips at the top (not impacting the text), and a few pages have either ink or pencil notations (primarily small arrows or check marks). Externally, the volume is cracked, all four corners are bumped, there is bowing to the covers, and roughly 1 inch splits along both the top and bottom spine edges of the front cover. Finally, there are two inscriptions written on the first page of the volume. Terms: All sales final. Paypal only. I will ship USPS mail.
