Description: Offered are seven volumes out of 25 of the vintage encyclopedia set "New Standard Encyclopedia of Universal Knowledge", edited by Frank Vizetelly and published in New York by Funk & Wagnalls. The set has a copyright date of 1931. The seven volumes are: IV-bookworm-caccamo, V-caccianiga-Central University, VII-clough-cotopaxi, XI-eon-fichet, XV-Haggard-Hovey, XXI-raisin-Saxe-Lauenburg and XXV-Washington-zyzyn. Also included are two more books: the 1932 and 1933 annual yearbooks for the set. Each volume has numerous black and white illustrations, some full-page, and a few tables or charts. The yearbooks have several full-page black and white photos. Although this encyclopedia is not rare, the yearbooks may be-at the time of original listing I could not find any other 1932 editions for sale on eBay or anywhere else and only one 1933 for sale anywhere, not on eBay. Each volume is approx. 6 1/8" x 4 3/8" and contains 512 pages. The 1932 yearbook has 548 pages and the 1933 yearbook has 544. They are in fair condition overall, with some parts in good condition. As shown, the red hard covers have considerable wear, especially on the spines, with some volumes having tears and missing surface areas. Some but not all of the volumes have cracking inside and several have some light water-staining. The white endpapers have browned. I of course have not looked at every one of the more than 4,000 pages but after several look-throughs I see no missing or torn pages and all the pages seem well-attached to the binding. The pages have yellowed but they are generally clean and clear, with little or no foxing. I don't see any writing but there may be some occasional light marks. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions.
