Other common names for this plant include orange coneflower . An upright, rhizomatous, clump-forming, free-blooming coneflower which typically grows to 3' tall, often forming colonies in the wild. Features daisy-like flowers (to 2.5" across) with yellow rays and brownish-purple center disks. Prolific bloom production over a long mid-summer to fall bloom period. Oblong to lanceolate, medium green foliage. The blooms blankets the plants from mid-July to October. It attracts butterflies and is an excellent cut flower. Adapts to a wide variety of soil conditions. Once established, it spreads rapidly. Deadheading prolongs the blooming season. Heat and drought tolerant. Low-maintenance, requires only cutting back to the ground in fall.
