Description: Listed American Artist Robert Pearson (?-1891) Signed (Initialed), on lower right, this Detailed and Lively Nautical scene. It is an Original Antique, Oil on Canvas. Ships head into ac harbor located to the right, on a mountainous peninsula, as one three masted sailing ship seems to be going after an overboard barrel of goods. The ship is beautifully detailed as are the white-capped waves. A smaller single masted boat follows with several sailors aboard. Color palette is still quite vibrant and the varnish is fresh looking. There is craquelure (a network of fine cracks in the paint of a painting) throughout the piece. There are areas of lost gesso on upper corner areas and two, filled in holes in the liner - on left and right (see final image). 3 1/2" Wide Antiqued Gold scoop moulding, including an angled wood liner, is included in this moulding. Canvas measures 12 X 18 and is in Very Good condition.Outside measure of the frame is 18 1/2 X 24 1/2 and is in Fair to Good condition.Please carefully examine all images for condition.Shipping fee includes delivery insurance.
