A piece of history from those early days came to light recently when Robert Schumacher, a retired supervising engineer with Wisconsin Bell, presented The Journal with a 1932 state road map. The 40-by-50 inch black-and-white map was published by The Milwaukee Journal Tour Club, formed in 1920 by a colorful journalist named Brownie Roland. Schumacher worked at The Journal as a stringer after graduating from high school. He also led tour groups through the new Journal Building. Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 02-24-1987.
