Debut in 1895 at the municipal theater of Nuovi Ligure in »Ruy Blas« by Marchetti. In 1897 he sang Rodolfo in »La Bohème« in Cagliari. From then on he specialized in this role, which he created for Lisbon (1897), Barcelona (1898) and Mexico City, among others. On 14.10.1897 he sang Rodolfo in the American premiere of »La Bohème« by the Milan Royal Opera Company (as part of a coast-to-coast tour) in Los Angeles, and on 16.5.1898 in the New York premiere of the opera at Walleck's Theater during a guest performance by the same opera troupe. He made guest appearances on major Italian stages (including very successful performances in 1909 in Parma in Catalani's "Loreley" and again in Monza as Rodolfo) and in South America. In 1910 he sang at the Teatro Massimo Palermo in the premiere of Mascagni's opera "Amica". His greatest successes, however, were in North America, where he appeared almost every year at the San Carlo Opera. In 1903 he replaced the ill Enrico Caruso in two performances at the Metropolitan Opera (as Rodolfo and as the Duke in "Rigoletto"). He was still working for the San Carlo Company in 1921. When he happened to be present at a performance by this troupe in 1929, he stood in for the singer of Gounod's Faust who had suddenly fallen ill, even though he had not been on stage for years. American newspapers at the time reported sensationally that the artist was seventy years old, but this was an exaggeration. Most recently he was a teacher in Abington. Giuseppe Agostini (Tenor) (Verona 1870 - Abdington 1951) In 1895 Agostini made his debut at the Teatro Municipale in Alessandria. On 16. 5. 1898 he performed at the Walleck Theatre in New York première of the opera ‘’La Boheme’’. In 1910 he appeared at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in the première of Mascagni’s opera ‘’Amica’’. He had his biggest success in North America where he appeared almost annually with the San Carlo Opera Company. In 1903 he substituted at the Metropolitan Opera for the ill Enrico Caruso in two performaces (as Rodolfo in ‘’La Boheme’’ and as Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’). Still in 1921 he was active with the San Carlo Opera Company. Later he taught singing in Abington. If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING. Quick note on grading: The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise."EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing."VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing."Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise. These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment. Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.
