Description: This is a collection of anthropomorphic animal stories in Seton's usual vein, a sequel of sorts to his enormously popular Wild Animals I Have Known (1898). Fully titled and subtitled, "Lives of the Hunted. Containing a true account of the doings of five quadrupeds & three birds, and, in elucidation of the same, over 200 drawings". Published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1901, FIRST IMPRESSION (stated), in EXCELLENT CONDITION. Greenish-gray cloth with gilt, brown, and black titling and decoration front board and spine. The spine is slightly darkened from exposure, boards with very light edge and corner wear. Reddish-brown top stain, rough-cut page edges. There is an adorable gift inscription for a 1901 Christmas gift on first free endpaper, else no marks in 361 clean and solidly bound pages. There is a slight lean to the right; the book will be stored and shipped wrapped in shrink in a straightened position - this should help with the lean. B1
