Its routes focused on Nashville (TN), but it also served Louisville (KY), Cincinnati (OH), Atlanta (GA), New Orleans (LA), and Birmingham (AL). The L&N began operations in 1850 and operated continuously under one name until it was acquired in 1982 by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad (SCL). While coal was its major commodity, the L&N also had extensive passenger train operations and its best known for its famous "named" trains -- Hummingbird, Pan American, Dixie Flyer, and Georgian. CSX Transportation now owns and operates most L&N trackage. For auction is a rare employee pass from the L&N for the year 1893...The pass, which measures appx 4 x 2 1/2 inches, is printed on heavy weight cardstock. It is in excellent condition, with no rips or tears. All writing/markings are from its issuance and use. A nice collectible for the L&N railfan. Shipped in a hard-side plastic collector's sleeve.
