After the the breakup of the Soviet Union and as Yugoslavia broke up there was a period of hyper-inflation and for a short term some of the largest demonisations of money were printed including this ten-trillion dinara bill, one of the largest demonisations in the World ever put into circulation. In 1994, during the Bosnian and Croatian Wars of Independence the attempted to end hyperinflation, the the Government in Belgrade taking back much of the hyper-inflated bills such as this one and put smaller bills into circulation although much of the 1990’s was still marked by economic decline, and sanctions due to to War and War Crimes committed as Yugoslavia broke up.
